We are looking for highly motivated students at all levels with research passion and strong mathematical backgrounds to join us. Contact Dr. Chen at “xin_chen@tamu.edu” if you are interested.
We have multiple openings for fully funded Ph.D. positions. Students with backgrounds in power and energy systems, control theory, machine learning, optimization, mathematics, and related fields are encouraged to apply. The research of our group lies in the intersection of control, AI, and optimization for human-cyber-physical systems, with a focus on power and energy systems. We aim to develop fundamental theories, algorithms, and practically applicable tools to advance the intelligence, resilience, and sustainability of power and energy systems. Specific research topics include
- Data-driven physics-informed dynamics modeling and adaptive control of inverter-based resources
- Autonomous coordination of large-scale distributed energy resources and flexible loads
- Large language model (LLM)-based agentic AI for power system planning and operation
- Scalable AI-enabled control and optimization algorithms
Interested applicants shall contact Dr. Chen at “xin_chen@tamu.edu” with the subject line “Prospective Ph.D. Student”, enclosing CV, transcript, and a short description of research interests, and submit their applications to the graduate program of TAMU before the deadline.
